Engineering Leader, specializing in getting new capacity built and motivating technical teams to make things happen ahead of time, on budget and on target for quality, capability and adaptability. Most of my career has been in Engineering and Facilities Leadership roles for manufacturing firms like Alcoa, GE Plastics and Warner Lambert, when they were investing in high growth, start-up businesses. My focus has been Project & Capital Portfolio Management, Capital Spending, Engineering Design and Construction, for Pharmaceuticals, Polymers and Chemical Firms worldwide. 

Over the last 3 years I have obtained the notoriously difficult permits to build 3 different recycling & renewable energy plants in California. Once funded, these will be built to meet expected demand for green/low carbon fuels and the infrastructure to deliver them to the consumer and commercial customers. 

Prior to 2007 I led international design and engineering teams building advanced plastics recycling plants in Europe and China.

In 6 years with Warner Lambert and 4 years consulting for Schering-Plough & Pfizer, I was heavily involved in solid dosage manufacturing and validation of new installations, equipment, facilities and processes.

While at Cabot Corp. Billerica, MA. as Director Project Management, Global Engineering I established an electronic project office for capital projects at Cabot's 39 locations.

Westfield Consulting L.L.C. President & Engineering Consultant

Providing Capital Projects Leadership to the Recycling & Bio Fuels production and distribution industry. Expertise in obtaining permits, solid materials processing, overall capital project design, construction, budget and schedule control for green processing industries - Plastics & Metals Recycling, Pharmaceuticals and Bio Fuel manufacturing.

Director Engineering Primafuel Inc

Leading project design and construction of two major ($100 million each) biodiesel production & bulk liquid terminals in Northern CA. These sites will address anticipated increases in demand for green/low carbon fuels and the infrastructure needed to deliver those fuels to consumers and commercial fleets.

Director Engineering MBA Polymers Inc.

MBA develops, licenses and installs world leading technology for separating and recycling engineering thermoplastics from End of Life electronics, computers, appliances and autos.

• Leading International Process Engineering Teams that successfully designed and constructed two new Joint Venture recycling plants in Southern China and Europe. Now debugging and enhancing performance.
• Full time direct management of EPC design firms and construction firms in Guangzhou, China and Vienna Austria, that constructed $12 Mil & $20 Mil plants that started-up Sept 2005 & March 2006. Expect to build plants #3 & 4 starting mid 2007

Westfield Consulting L.L.C.

Westfield- provides process and project consulting services to pharmaceutical, polymer and chemical firms

•Redesigned & rebuilt critical utility systems to resolve validation issues and executed ES, Commissioning, IQ & OQ while Schering-Plough was operating under $500 Mil. Consent Decree
•Senior member -consultant team that identified supply chain improvements allowing Schick -Wilkinson Sword Division Warner Lambert to save $4.5 Mil. in manufacturing & import costs per year
•(Subcontract to Kvaerner) PROJECT DIRECTOR-@ Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Terre Haute, IN
*Directed all engineering, purchasing and construction on $55 Mil. cGMP rebuild of a 50+ year old fermentation plant, to compress 3 years work into one year of construction
*Led Pfizer's non-degree manufacturing foremen to act as project engineers supervising staff from 3 firms
*Extensive facilities work to install new electrical and data networks, and upgrade HVAC systems

•Key leader adapting Cabot from central engineering bureaucracy of >200 engineers to integrated 100 person team distributed across 23 countries and 31 plants, reducing overhead costs by $3 Mil. and improving schedule results on 600 projects per year
•Spearheaded design and implementation of world wide uniform project management approach and multi phased Lotus Notes approval process for all capital spending, $160 Mil. capital budget became $127 Mil. actual in 2000
•Inspired and led small team of senior project managers, improving results on $10-$30 Mil. major projects worldwide

International Projects Director Conair Group, Inc.

- $120 Mil. privately held company, is the largest US supplier of conveying and auxiliary equipment for plastics injection molding plants
- Reported to President & COO
•Launched export procedures, packaging, and product upgrades in four divisions meeting European CE regulations, supporting world-wide sales volume growth potential- $100 Mil.
•Created sales / marketing plan for Conair to expand revenue $25 Mil. providing new design & construction services to current customer base, using existing distribution channels

Director Engineering Warner Lambert Company

- $ 5 Bil. (now Pfizer) manufactures pharmaceutical and health care products
- Reported to VP Consumer Products Division
•Rescued $40 Mil. highly automated process & product facility. Revised manufacturing flow, material handling and process control, started plant in less than 3 months. Delivered FDA validated new product to meet US market launch schedule
-Reported to President & VP Technology Novon Products Group
•Recruited by former GE VP to direct the creation of new product 100 Mil. lb/yr. compounding facility in operating FDA-GMP plant, while formulas and raw materials were in development. Achieved commercial rate/quality production 18 months from initial conception. Completed $35 Mil. project $4 Mil. under budget using team of 3 engineers
•Created world class laboratories, pilot plants and manufacturing capacity at three sites (Illinois, New Jersey and Switzerland) to grow from startup to 190 employees in 30 months

Manager Engineering Services General Electric Plastics

- $4 Bil. makes engineering thermoplastic alloys at Selkirk
Manager Engineering Services; Manager Facilities Engineering; Manager Site Services; Utilities Supervisor; Project Engineer
•Reduced GE employees from 21 to 13 by promotion and voluntary transfer while providing engineering resources for $20 Mil. capital budget and improving project cost and cash flow control from worst to best of all GE Plastics sites
•Initiated partnership owned 270 megawatt cogeneration plant, reducing costs $4.5 Mil./yr
•Lowered capital costs by $3 Mil. by creative outsourcing with design engineering firms
•Inspired NY State PSC to create a new industrial natural gas rate saving $2 Mil. per year
•Spearheaded daily computerized energy production reporting system which led manufacturing units to slash energy consumed 25% / $4.3 Mil. in two years
